Bread labelling is required when the product is packaged – this does not include counter sales but does include shelf bread in plastic bags as well as other packaged bakery lines. Self adhesive labels add value, brand identity, customer awareness as well as essential information such as weight, nutrition information, ingredients, allergy alerts and other essential consumer information.

Many bakeries use a thermal shell label. Shell labels include the customer logo, address and other static information. An in-house scale printer or thermal printer is used to overprint the product name and other information that is specific to the product being packaged.
